NEW METER SPARKS POSITIVE CHANGE FOR SMES
Hot on the heels of the recent report by The Carbon Trust - which concluded SMEs could save £300million by introducing smart meters for their energy - bglobal, the leading provider of smart metering solutions, has announced the launch of the new Mark 7 (Mk7) smart meter, specifically designed for the SME market.
The Mk7 is an advanced single phase Time of Use meter, designed for advanced utilities. This new design has incorporated the latest technology and manufacturing techniques to lower cost and yet provide more advanced features. It is ideal for SME use.
Tony Stiff, commercial director at bglobal said: "Energy management is as high on the agenda for SMEs as it is for large industry, as price hikes over the years have been relative and 'guesstimated' billing remains prevalent throughout the SME market.
SMEs are also under pressure to manage their impact on the environment as UK business generally is encouraged to cut CO2 emissions. Smart metering is an obvious solution. Previously, it has been deemed cost prohibitive for SMEs. However, the Mk7, is a smaller and much more cost effective model, making smart metering more accessible to the smaller business audience.
The beauty of smart meters such as the Mk7 is the real time data they provide, which allows managers to budget more accurately, monitor and plan their energy consumption in more detail and highlight any areas of waste that can be addressed.
